Ajay's deer spray
This spray has been a great success in my co-workers garden.
4 eggs
1 cup milk (leave on counter to turn sour)
5 drops dishsoap
5 drops veg oil
10 drops liquid clove, or anise
Mix and strain through 1 layer of cheese cloth, add water to make 1 gal. Spray every week or as needed. For veggies, and edibles spray around but not on plants.

It strikes me as odd to use "anise", as that is what is known to be a hunters friend for attracting deer. Many soapmakers use it for a "hunter's soap". Not sure about clove.
Hi
I will have to ask Ajay about his recipe, he swears by it, but I am not sure where he got it.He has several resident deer that constantly frustrate him so he tested many products and recipe's before settling on his favorite.
I know anise is used as a scent mask, to hide human smell, or fishy smells by fisherman, but do not know if it as an attractant. There are food smells that are also scent masks and therefore do double duty but I don't think Anise is one. You raise a great point, so perhaps that part of the recipe could be dropped.
I just made a batch of Ajay's recipe, but did not have Anise so I used Tea Tree Oil, and Lavender Oil in it's place. I also added a bit of blood meal. It smelled very nice blood meal and all.
I am hoping the deer which leave Lavender alone in my nursery pass by my daylily seedlings. They have not touched the Daylilies so far this season, to date I have used blood meal, and Plant Skydd and it's doing the trick.
thanks Sandra
